       The Pennsylvania State University at University Park, Department of African and African American Studies will be filling a faculty position that focuses on 20th Century and contemporary African American urban, and diasporic issues.  The Department invites applications from candidates at all ranks.  Preference will be given to those at the professor or associate level, although junior candidates with strong records will also be considered.  The successful candidates will be expected to participate in cross-disciplinary teaching in the department and the research initiatives of the Africana Research Center, in the areas of economic, political, social, and cultural dimensions of people of African origins.

Description:
The position is for a scholar whose research focus is on contemporary African American urban, and/or diasporic issues that will complement the teaching and research of other faculty in the department. Applicants should possess a Ph.D. in a relevant discipline.  Individuals with an interdisciplinary research focus in areas such as history, politics, economy, sociology, globalization, African American history, and African American community development are encouraged to apply.
