Major Colman is an Assistant Professor of African and African American Studies, Labor Studies
and Industrial Relations and Political
Science, received his J.D. from the University of Maryland at Baltimore
and his Ph.D. in political science from the University
of Chicago in 1993. He comes to us from the University of North
Carolina-Chapel Hill, Department of Economics, where he was a postdoctoral
scholar. He was formerly a postdoctoral fellow in politics, race and law
at Stanford University. His research interests include minority employment
and firm performance, the impact of competitive processes on racial
equality, law and economics, and affirmative action policy. His is
currently completing a manuscript with the University Press of Virginia
titled "The Cost of Racial Equality," and conducting analyses of
Equal Employment Opportunity Commission data.
